Joining VPC

At VPC, we are interested in welcoming new individuals into our community and growing the spiritual depth of those already here.  Membership is not required in order to participate at VPC except to vote for and serve in elected leadership.  You may worship, sing in the choir, serve on a ministry team, attend classes, go on a missions trip and more, all without officially becoming a member of the church.

Membership in our church is taking a step towards deepening your faith; committing to a focused effort to discover what it means to follow Jesus with your life, in worship, prayer, study, serving, giving, living and sharing the good news.

We don't require any contracts or dues; there are no time requirements or hoops to jump through.  The only real requirement for joining VPC is that you profess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  If you aren't there yet, stay with us.  Stick around.  Ask questions.  God is faithful.  If you seek him earnestly, he will reach out for you.

So, as you journey here at VPC, if you are a seeker, we hope that you will come to believe; and if you are a believer, we hope you will commit to discipleship and grow as a loving and serving member of God's family.

Whether or not you choose to join VPC, we pray that you will experience God's love through Jesus Christ in our community.

How Do I Join?

Joining VPC is as simple as attending a New Members' Seminar, offered three times per year.  There are differing formats for the New Member Seminar.  Some sessions are held on three consecutive Sunday mornings during the worship hours.  Sometimes it is a morning and afternoon session on Saturday followed by a morning session the following day.  The format for upcoming seminars will be laid out in the Sunday worship bulletin.

The class is set in a small group environment where you will hear from our pastoral staff and other church leaders about the unique attributes of our congregation and about the Presbyterian (PCUSA) denomination.  At the conclusion, you will be invited to confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior before the elders of the church.  You will be recognized and welcomed in a Sunday worship service shortly after the conclusion of your class.

For more information or to register for a New Member Seminar, please contact Linda Kemple at 703-938-9050, or linda.kemple@viennapres.org.

The next New Member Seminar will be conducted in three parts; you should attend all three parts:
