The Rev. Dr. Edward T. Brogan
Chaplain Ed Brogan is the Director of the Presbyterian Council for Chaplains and Military Personnel in Washington, DC, a local missions group supported by VPC. He assumed his present position after 24 years in the Air Force chaplaincy. He is a clergy member of the National Capital Presbytery of the PC (USA).
A Pennsylvania native, Chaplain Brogan earned a BS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts and a Doctor of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the Boston Presbytery of the PC(USA) in 1974.
Chaplain Brogan was commissioned as an Air Force chaplain and entered active duty in September, 1977, at Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC. During his active career he served as Protestant Chaplain, Senior Protestant Chaplain, Senior Chaplain and Deputy Command Chaplain. His assignments ranged widely from fighter and bomber bases to military schools to headquarters and joint positions.
Chaplain Brogan is a graduate of the Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and the Air War College. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Joint Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal (4 OLC), and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. He retired from the Air Force in 2001 from Bolling AFB to work for Presbyterian churches as their endorsing agent. Chaplain Brogan is a member of the Military Chaplains Association the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces, and of the Ecumenical Conference on Veterans Affairs Chaplaincy. He is the national treasurer for the Military Chaplains Association.
Chaplain Brogan continues to enjoy his long marriage to his wife Sandy. They live in Reston, Virginia.
