The Rev. Glenda Simpkins Hoffman

Genda Simpkins Hoffman, Associate Pastor
Genda Simpkins Hoffman
Associate Pastor

Glenda Simpkins Hoffman was raised in Carlin, a small town in northeastern Nevada.  She earned a degree in English education at Utah State University with the aim of becoming a teacher and a coach.  However, the teaching, training, and one-on-one discipleship she received through her involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ so changed her that she decided to join the staff after her graduation.  She served on several campuses including the University of California at Berkeley, San Jose State University, and Moscow State University in Russia.

Glenda met her husband Stuart just before leaving for Russia, and they became engaged in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).  They were married in 1991 and spent their first year of married life in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Stuart was working as an editor.  A year later they moved to Chicago so that Glenda could pursue a Master of Divinity degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Before coming to VPC in 2007, Glenda served for a decade as the associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, Illinois, where her primary responsibilities included overseeing adult education, small groups, deacons, Stephen Ministry, and pastoral care.

Discipleship and spiritual formation are her ministry passion.  She loves to help others experience the love of Christ more deeply and to learn to love him more and love others in his name together.  Community is also a key value because we as believers are united to each other through Christ and called to love, care for, encourage, and serve one another.  And she is excited about the Great Commission — to make disciples of all nations.

Glenda enjoys reading, walking, watching movies, and traveling, but her greatest joy is spending time with her husband and her two sons, Nate and Ian.
