Beyond Basics

The Bible teaches us that faith is all that is required for salvation. If we are good
Presbyterians, we may also believe that our salvation (or lack thereof) is predestined. Why then, are we here? What are we supposed to do if no action is required? Join us as we use Charles Colson’s book, "How Now Shall We Live?" as a filter to discuss this question. Led by Allen McCarley.  All are welcome in Room 203-204.

For more information contact Kate Lund at 703-255-7244 or katejlund@yahoo.com.

Lightseekers

The Lightseekers class meets at the 9:30 am hour.  It is a caring, outward looking community of disciples that looks to Jesus and to each other for Bible Study and mutual encouragement.  The focus of the class is on nurturing closer relationships with God through the study of His Word, connecting the Word to real life and developing deep spiritual relationships among participants.  Each week the members enjoy a rich discussion of that Sunday's sermon scripture.  Attendance at the 8:00 am service is not required.  The class meets in the Parlor, adjacent to the Sanctuary.

For more information contact Judy Chelson at 703-759-5812 or pauljudy@cox.net.

Partners with Christ

"Partners" is an adult Sunday School class open to men and women of all ages and stages of life.  Our goal is to strengthen and deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other by studying His word and sharing what we are learning.  Several different teachers facilitate discussion, with curriculum based on the interests of the members and where the Holy Spirit leads the class.  We use books, DVDs and other materials, but always in support of our primary focus, the Bible: God’s written word to His people.  Newcomers are more than welcome to join in at any time.  The class ranges in size from 15 to 40, depending on the Sunday.

Beginning September 12 Partners in Christ will be doing John Ortberg’s The Me I Want to Be.  Join us for an in-depth look at becoming the people God created us to be!  This easy to read, and highly engaging book will help all of us look at how we are wired for worship, connecting with God and for service.  It touches on our sin, our gifts and our uniqueness in Christ.  We are disciples who were created to do good works that God created for us to do (Ephesians 2:10) and doing so the way God intended brings us joy and fulfillment.

Come join us!  We meet in room 205.  For more information contact Martha Strauss at 703-319-7050 or wmstrauss@aol.com.

Searchers in the Word

This class is an in-depth study of Jesus' ministry in the Gospel of Mark, an action-filled narrative for practical living.  The Bible is the main text, plus written and audio commentaries.  The class meets in Room 312.

For more information contact Marion Billington at 703-255-9179 or mbillington@verizon.net.
