Stephen Ministry

Stephen Leaders are ready to launch a new training class for Stephen Ministers in January 2014.  If you would like to learn more about this spirit-filled ministry, including frequently asked questions and filling out an application, READ ON!  Applications must be submitted by May 31.

People are precious, and when they hurt or suffer, they deserve the best care and support we can offer.  That is why VPC has Stephen Ministers.  Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one distinctively Christian, caring, confidential ministry.  Stephen Ministers care for people facing a difficult time, a life transition, or some crisis.  Stephen Ministers are not professional counselors, but they are more than well-intentioned friends, because of the high level of commitment that Stephen Ministers make.  They use both words and deeds to express Christ’s care for others―listening, encouraging and comforting, calling on the training they have received and employing tools of faith.

Caregiving―to love others in Christ’s name―is one of the most important jobs God calls us to do.  Perhaps God has blessed you richly and you’re at a place in your faith journey where you can give something back by serving and blessing others through Stephen Ministry.
