Sacraments Class

The Sacraments class provides parents and their children with instruction on baptism and communion, and is a great opportunity for parents to talk to their children about their readiness to participate in the sacraments.  The class is a series of four sessions, offered once a year in early spring, culminating in the baptism of those wishing it and participation in the children’s first Communion with the congregation.  These classes are for 3rd through 6th graders and their parents.

Children, grouped by grade level, explore the meaning of the Sacraments, while their parents attend a separate class where they learn ways to nourish their children's and family’s commitment to Christian beliefs and Sacraments.

In 2012 classes will be held for parents and children over 4 Sundays:  March 25, April 15, 22 and 29 at 11:00 am.  On these Sundays, participating families should plan to attend worship together at 9:30 am, followed by classes at 11:00 am on the 3rd floor.  Class topics for both children and parent classes will include: Grace (March 25); Signs and Symbols (April 15); Baptism (April 22); Communion / Meals & Sacrifices (April 29).  It is important for families to attend all sessions.

Baptism will be offered for those children not yet baptized on April 29 at the 8:00 am and 9:30 am services.  Celebration of The Lord’s Supper (with special recognition of the children) and a reception for the families will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012.

On March 25 children and parents will sign-in on the 3rd floor just outside of rooms 322/23.  Parents will then go to rooms 308-09.   Children will be given room assignments and will be sent to 3rd floor classrooms: 311, 321, or 322-323.
