Outreach (Bridgepoint)
Bridgepoint is VPC's mission of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with our friends, neighbors and coworkers as well as our endeavor at meeting the needs of our local community through service and good deeds.
The history of the human race teaches us that people of all times, races, and cultures have sought after God. There is a desire planted deep within the human heart that yearns for something more and different than this world has to offer.
This ache is so persistent and basic that it has been compared to physical hunger. Just as hunger of the stomach demonstrates that the body was created to exist on food, so hunger of the human spirit demonstrates that humanity was created for life with God.
It is true, of course, that some people resist this hunger. They deny their need for spiritual sustenance much as those who fast from food. But an unbroken fast leads eventually to the body’s decay and ultimately to death. In the same way, the soul’s starvation leads to spiritual decay and finally to eternal emptiness — an unending separation from God.
Yet most human beings respond to their inner spiritual hunger, searching for the food that will bring true satisfaction. Marketplace Ministry
Even though people in Vienna, Virginia, are surrounded by thousands of people, they are "relationally starved." Their world outside of work tends to be small and select. It is only in the work environment that they are forced to interact with all types of people.
Many will never see biblical principles or a personal relationship with God lived out other than their work environment.
These men and women desire more than the recognition and influence that come with a successful career. They yearn for a deeper spiritual reality. Yet many will continue to try and stuff the vacuum in their heart with more money, success, power, fame, sex… and they continue to feel empty and unsatisfied.
We believe as individual lives are changed, that families, companies, and cities will be transformed in a positive fashion. Our vision is for professional men and women to:
- Have a dynamic and fresh relationship with God.
- See how their faith really works day to day in the marketplace.
- See the relevance of the Bible to their lives and the challenges they face.
- Have an impact in the corporate world and community
- We are working together to develop ourselves into a new kind of professional who can lead in today's marketplace - one who is dynamic, mature and effective.
