Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to a new year in the Underground (Student Ministries). We look forward to seeing all our 7th through 12th grade students for another great year.
the Underground A.M. (Sunday School) begins with a light breakfast starting at 9:00 am before all Middle and High School students gather as a large group at 9:30 for a time of music, praise and prayer. Students will then gather in either Middle School or High School groups to be challenged with an inspirational message about how to be a Jesus follower, while developing the bonds of community.
the Underground P.M. (Youth Group) is on Sunday evenings with Middle School meeting from 5:00-7:00 pm, and High School meeting from 6:30-8:30 pm. the Underground P.M. will continue to have large group fellowship and activities, but all participating students will have D/C Groups- smaller discipleship community groups where students have the opportunity go deeper into the word of God. This new component will bridge the fellowship and activity times where students will continue to build community here at VPC. Returning students will continue with their groups from last year and students new to the Underground P.M. will be placed in existing groups or new groups will be formed. These groups give students even more opportunity to grow in their faith and develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Youth Worship Ministries also has a full complement of activities for students to become involved in, including the Youth Choir, Youth Orchestra, Liturgical Dance, Drama and Handbells. See viennapres.org/ministries/music/youth/ for more details.
Confirmation Class for High School students will begin with an interest meeting in September. Please see viennapres.org/confirmationclass for further details.
We always enjoy speaking with parents so please feel free to contact any member of our staff, Barry Hill (director), Thea Lamberson (high school), Kim Snyder (middle school) or Melissa Jensen (admin assistant) with any questions or concerns you might have. We are looking forward to a great year with your students.
