Count Me In
Serving God by Serving Others
What is Count Me In?
We have a very gifted and generous congregation. We serve in so many ways – from volunteering our time in Sunday school to traveling to some of the poorest regions in the world to provide comfort, shelter, food and to spread the Good News of the Gospel! During 2012, we’d like to challenge ourselves to perform 250,000 hours of missions/service hours to fulfill Jesus’s mandate to us.
How do I report my hours?
You can report your service hours by clicking the report button on this web page. Additionally, forms will be available in the Narthex each week and you can manually drop the reporting form in the box on the Sign-In table. Forms can also be dropped off at the office any time. We will provide quarterly updates so we can mark our progress towards this significant effort.
What type of volunteering counts?
Tell us about any time that you spend in spreading the love of Jesus Christ, both within and outside of our VPC walls. Ushering, singing in the choir, SMP trips, volunteering at the Lamb Center, cooking meals for Bethany Women’s Center, making sleeping pads from grocery bags for the homeless, or other groups or individuals that you serve as called and as led.
What is the purpose?
As so many of you could attest to in your own personal Minute for Witness, fulfilling Christ’s mandate to care for those in need will change you. Hearts, minds and souls are transformed through the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our own congregation and beyond. Not only do we plan to impact our community with our efforts, we know that we will benefit as the hands and feet of Christ in service.

25"...for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." 37Then the righteous will answer him, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" 40The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
- Matthew 25:35-40
