In addition to service projects here in our own community, VPC organizes missions trips of one week or longer for adults, youth, and families, to perform service projects in other national and international areas.
VPC started the SMP program over 20 years ago to engage high school students in service projects, putting faith into action. The program has expanded over the years, and now, VPC sends over 150 people of all ages to various locations nationally and internationally. Most projects last 7 to 10 days, and during the trip, everyone participates in daily Bible study, prayer, worship and group chores. Work projects range from basic building to working with children. All service work is done to spread the Good News of Christ. Accommodations are usually very basic in a camp-type environment. Different trips are oriented around age, purpose and location. SMP trips are open to all! Read more information on SMP Trips.
VPC encourages the development of short-term missions projects at any time throughout the year. The Missions Ministry is a point of coordination to help individuals develop an STMP, providing experience and resources to plan a successful trip. In the past VPC has sent volunteers to destinations inside and outside the United States. VPC has had a missions presence on the Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, as well as in Haiti.
