Visitors from nine South American countries came to VPC to discuss our ESOL program.  These visitors are invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.  Their program is arranged by the Institute of International Education.

The Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for the project:

  • Examine Teaching English as a Second Language programs in the United States;
  • Provide teachers of English an opportunity to meet with American instructors;
  • Develop a better understanding of the educational system in the U.S; and
  • Provide exposure to the complexity of social, political, economic, and demographic dynamics in the U.S. with particular attention to immigration patterns and the impact they have on English acquisition and usage in the U.S.

This is the second year that VPC's ESOL program has been recognized for its excellent outreach to the community and for the effective education that they administer.

Congratulations to Bonnie Grouge, Pam Gissendanner, and the 120 volunteers that it takes to run the ESOL program each week!

TAG TCI and Assessment Reports

VPC contracted with TAG Consulting of Fairfax to assess our congregation in preparation for a leadership development process.  The TCI Report gives the results of the congregational survey that was taken in August 2011, while the Assessment Report offers VPC a comprehensive assessment of our current condition as perceived by our community. You may view these reports online at our Publications page.  Note that to view the reports online, you must be registered with and logged-in to the VPC website.
