Haiti SMP

Young boy looks out of a tent "window"

We are all doing very well!!  We're hot, tired and extremely sweaty and dirty each day, but are accomplishing so much in refurbishing the Rehab Clinic and starting a home for a person who lost all in the earthquake.  Each day out young people come back glad to be doing His service for His people in Haiti.

We've been conducting  Bible Schools and sports ministry each afternoon.  The reality of the distress in this country hit us hard the first day of Bible School.  We went to a "Tent City": a living area of people displaced by the earthquake.  This community is composed of people who lost their homes, and in many cases, family members--or were injured.  Although we had tried to plan to program very carefully, as our afternoon ended and we distributed food, Bible coloring pages and crayons, there was a rush of children, with things becoming quite chaotic.  Although we had had a great time presenting the Creation story in play form, we left sad that there was pushing shoving and some fighting --not the way we had intended to end the afternoon.  Pray for these families whose lives are so disrupted in every way.  But, we had a great experience today at a very humble orphangage--telling Noah's story and of our God who cares for us and this world.

Your young people are learning to saw, hammer, construct walls, mix and pour cement, etc.

That's all for now--have to get to bed--we have VERY early starts to very long days.  Pray for our safe return on Sunday, July 3.

Drama in Haiti

Here’s a picture from our Daniel and the Lion’s Den play. Please note that the lions sniff, paw and roll Daniel over, but, thanks be to God, they don't eat him!!  The Haitian children LOVED this play!
