Lance Vining

Director of Worship and Music

With a career that has spanned fifty years, Lance and his lovely wife Pamela, have served churches in New Jersey, Maryland, California, Colorado, Tennessee and Virginia. Each church provided a different worship experience that proved very beneficial for navigating the changing worship style and culture of Vienna Presbyterian Church.

After completing his studies at Westminster Choir College and Peabody Conservatory, Lance went on to a successful professional singing and conducting career.  Once he was called to full–time church ministry, Lance continued conducting outside the church, which included eleven years as Music and Artistic Director of the Oratorio Society of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.

For Lance the importance of church music ministry has always been about “ministry”.  The last twenty-four years spent ministering at Vienna Presbyterian Church is bearing fruit as one watches the many members of the music ministry step into a world of virtual ministry.  Their acceptance of the new and willingness to minister in different ways is an example to all of us.

Lance and Pamela are now celebrating fifty years of marriage.  They have three sons and five grandchildren.
