Patrick Sobolik
Traditional Music Director
Patrick Sobolik is the Director of Traditional Worship at Vienna Presbyterian Church. Originally from Charles City, Iowa, Patrick moved to Northern Virginia in 1997 after being accepted as a tenor in the United States Army Chorus. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Wright State University. A lifelong participant in music ministry, Patrick served as a music associate at VPC for 18 years before stepping into the role of Director of Traditional Worship—first on an interim basis, and later through a formal appointment following a national search.
In his current role, Patrick collaborates with the Worship Committee to shape the music for the 10:30 a.m. Traditional Service, leads the Sanctuary Choir in weekly rehearsals, and conducts the Cathedral Brass when they are featured in worship. A classically trained vocalist, he deeply values sacred music from the great masters but also enjoys contemporary Christian music and modern adaptations of hymns and anthems. He even lends his skills as a drummer to the church’s praise band on occasion. Patrick is married to Kerri and is the proud father of four children—Mikaela, Alayna, Rebecca, and Jonathan—as well as a grandfather to Arthur. He lives in a log home tucked away in the woods, where he enjoys watching wildlife, playing pickleball, and spending time with his two dogs, Bailey and Murphy.
