Christ & Culture

Engage in ethical questions and hear from VPC mission partners in real time as this community learns how to put faith in action. Consider this a welcoming place to address tough questions, a respectful place to share perspectives, and an enlightening place where the hope of Christ prevails.

Current Series: Profiting from Division—Humans have experienced strife and division since the first sin of man in the Garden of Eden. Conflict seems to be our natural state, but it is also a choice. We may even be tempted to enable division because of how we profit from it. What instigates the divisions we currently experience is complex. Join the Christ & Culture forum as we examine the ways evil actively and inconspicuously operates in our culture, and what the Bible says about how we can resist it.

Meets in the Great Hall on the first floor and simultaneously online at https://zoom.us/j/463246442.

Group Leaders: Phil Covell & Garth Jensen

Current Series: If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat by John OrtbergAt a time of increasing divisions, it is important to remember the Church is the body of Christ, sharing his Love and salvation to all. It is also important to remember that WE are the Church, and if God is to share His Love through us, we have to stand up, trust God, step out of the boat and into whatever adventure He has in store for us.

Meets in room 203/204 on the second floor and simultaneously online at https://zoom.us/j/193175045.

Group Leader: Jonathan Lochhaas

Current Series Through 5/18: It’s About A Lot More Than a Fish!—Three Weeks in Jonah. Uncover the riches of a too-often neglected book of the Bible, one we’ve tended to relegate to an endearing tale for children. As we dive below the surface of Jonah’s story, we’ll discover how much God has to show and teach us. We’ll discuss our identity in Christ, grapple with unsettling questions such as why God sent Jonah to minister to seemingly wicked people, and look to Jonah’s example (the good and the bad) to understand how God wants us to live. Get ready for an interesting trip in the belly of a whale… or was it a fish… or something else?! Come find out!
